 Stage Production: Every Six Minutes
Violence is a contagious force, begetting ever more extreme acts of violence. Serious art combats that process by revealing all the ways that cruelty has invaded—perhaps conquered—our hearts. We need a theater of conscience dedicated to engaging audiences in necessary and often painful self-analysis. As Franz Kafka said, “A work of art must be the axe that breaks open the sea frozen inside us.” Cruelty is combatted only when the heart is opened to new disciplines of compassion and kindness. 10:00 am Sexual Ethics
The program is presented by Barbara Lee, author of Sacred Sex Between the teaching of “sex is sin” and “sex is sport” is a place where we can celebrate our sexuality while treating it with moral integrity. This workshop explores the messages we receive both explicitly and implicitly about sex and sexuality. We will address the difference between a Marriage Ethic and a Sexual Ethic. We will look at the positive and negative messages we have received from teachers, parents, and other influential people in our lives and how they have influenced us over time. Participants will be given tools for changing those messages if they are not healthy and life giving. We will then explore masculine and feminine energies and discuss how awareness of these energies can lead us to happier and more fulfilling relationships. Finally, we will conclude the class by drafting our own individual Sexual Ethic to guide us in making responsible decisions regarding our sexual encounters. There is a $15 materials fee that includes a copy of the book. free (more)
