Let’s do this fantastic connector bike path between Lower Huron, Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks, south of Metro Airport. This is a nice hilly route that follows the Huron River for 30 miles round trip. We will stop and tour the Oakwoods Nature Center – ½ way. Lots of tree cover and shade, we will have our picnic lunch at the end of the ride. Check the map below to meet at Tulip Tree Picnic area in Lower Huron. Spring has arrived in all its glory and the park will be alive with nature's creatures and plants. We will hike the meadows and woods on trails winding among the lakes of this scenic park. A slow 2-hour hike along the last untouched mile of US shoreline on the Detroit River. Learn about the plants and animals that use this unique habitat and how this spectacular site was saved from the threat of development by thousands of dedicated people. (It's a marsh! Experienced hikers will love this 6-mile trail along the Canadian Au Sable River near Arkona, Ontario. A historic trail, with stream crossings, great scenery, falls at the confluence. Let’s go to Sierra’s northern boundary to ride the showpiece of this partially paved, hardpack trail. Ride at a moderate pace N W on this rail/trail 8 miles to the Mill Creek Trestle, a railroad bridge of the 1800’s, 640’ long, 60’ high with spectacular views. Then return on same path.
