We will paddle one hour from the livery at Proud Lake, downstream to Milford. We stop in the town park and have our lunch, walk the town a bit, then paddle back up to the livery for a nice 3 or 4 hour day. Many herons, swans and kingfishers will guide us on the river. Must phone leader by 7/28 to reserve. Bring a lunch, and water, $21 each. Meet in Southfield at Tel-12 Mall, S.E. corner of Telegraph and 12 Mile Rd. Explore hiking into the sunset, and seeing the stars show up, and the moonrise as we return! We picnic at 6, bring your beverage and a dish to pass. After we eat, we leave at 7 to hike west 2 miles, then return with the full moon popping up (9pm). Long sleeves, meet at Maybury State Park - horse stable parking lot (picnic shelter). Come hike the Penosha Trail - an old Native American trail that crosses the glacial moraines. We will go 5 miles on a hilly, forested trail system, at a moderate pace, not so fast that we miss the great scenery. Bring plenty of water and a trail snack for a warm day. Join a bike tour of some of Detroit's environmental jewels, including examples of Green Water Infrastructure to help stop water pollution. Bring your bike, or rent one there, for this moderate paced ride. We will see the Riverfront, Midtown, the east side & examples of constructed wetlands, rain gardens, permeable pavers, etc. Helmet required. Goes rain/shine. We will do the 8 mile scenic loop around Kent Lake then head UNDER I-96 to Island Lake Park River Bend picnic area. Pace,10 to 12 mph. Total distance, 15 miles with options for 8 or 23. Bring water, a trail snack and a brown bag lunch for an optional lunch under the shady oaks. Meet 10am in Kensington Park. We will ride the Bridge to Bay Bike Trail following the St. Clair River and returning the same way. Spectacular views, a stop at the Maritime Center, and we will see the oldest lighthouse in the state. Call if weather is questionable. An easy, relatively level hike with the possibility of seeing great blue herons on the nest at the pond. Be sure to bring binoculars. This 3.5 mile hike, with an ice cream stop in the middle at the cider mill, would be perfect for beginners. Meet 10am in Bloomfield Hills behind the CVS pharmacy on the SE corner of Woodward and Square Lake Rd., NE end of lot OR at 10:40 at the Holland Ponds parking lot on Ryan Road just north of 22 Mile. Lets go to this County park near Holly - for an enjoyable hike around all the lakes here. We will see if the water lilies are blooming around Richardson Lake. The trails are mostly level, with a few rolling hills, lined with trees. Meet at 9am in Bloomfield Twp. behind the CVS pharmacy on the S.E. corner of Woodward & Square Lake Rd.
