Be ready to ride at 10am for this neighborhood ride from Berkley through Royal Oak, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills and Beverly Hills, along tree lined streets to Cranbrook. And back. This time of year the trail vegetation might get a little wild, which might match our MOOD. Summer flowers should be in bloom, with subtle colors. We will hike about 5 miles of trails that are mostly in shaded woods, but will cross creeks, and a few steep hills. Trail snacks and water suggested. Soothe your harried workaday nerves (or recover from the rigors of the retiree lifestyle!) with an easy, relaxing after-work, mid-week paddle at Stony Creek MetroPark. Bring your own kayak or canoe, or rent one there. We'll paddle until 8pm. This is an easy, casual outing for any ability level. PFD use is mandatory. PFDs & paddles are included with rentals. We will hike 5-6 medium-paced miles in hilly, wooded terrain around McGinnis Lake. Mostly thick forested trails, there is a nice high overlook of the lake, where we will take a rest. We may spot some water fowl or the beaver that has been chewing lake edge saplings. Meet at 10am in Bloomfield Hills behind the CVS pharmacy on the SE corner of Woodward & Square Lk. Rd. Meet in Algonac, leave at 10am, cycle .25 mi. to the ferry (free), cross the St. Clair River to Harsens Island. Scenery of the river, freighters, sail boats, quaint summer Victorian homes, distant view of Detroit. 20 miles riding on paved roads, bring HELMET, WATER, SPARE TUBE. Restaurant stop on the south channel of the island during our ride (maybe Sans Souci Bar and Grille). Meet in the NE corner of McDonalds parking lot to unload bikes, 700 Pointe Tremble Road, Algonac. Macomb Orchard Trail Bike Ride

Tour northern Macomb County in all its summer splendor at an easy pace of 11-13mph. We will ride to Romeo and back, about 20-25 miles total, with a slight downhill on return!!! This is a paved rails trail. Optional DQ stop after. Required: helmet, extra tube, water, snack. Nice to have: sunscreen, insect repellant. Maybury Picnic and Moonlight Hike

Explore hiking into the sunset, and seeing the stars show up, and the moonrise as we return! We picnic at 6, bring your beverage and a dish to pass. After we eat, we leave at 7 to hike west 2 miles, then return with the full moon popping up (9:14pm). Long sleeves, meet at Maybury State Park - horse stable parking lot (picnic shelter).
