Meet 9:45am in Algonac, NE corner of McDonald’s parking lot to unload bikes: (700 Pointe Tremble Rd). Depart at 10am. Biking on very flat island roads. We will cycle ¼ mi. to the free ferry; cross the St. Clair River to the Island; enjoy views of the river, freighters, sail boats, quaint Victorian homes, and distant Detroit; and ride 20 miles on paved roads. This will be a combination of hiking and kayaking. First hike 9 miles on the Mason Track trail, East of Grayling, with spectacular landscape, and looks at the native flora and fauna. Camp overnight, then kayak back on Sunday - on my favorite stretch of the AuSable River. You need to have your own kayak/canoe, PFD. DRIVE UP FRIDAY, RETURN ON SUNDAY. We will enjoy a leisurely float on the Huron River – from Proud Lake Livery to downtown Milford and back. Bring a picnic lunch and drink; we paddle to the town park (1 hour), enjoy our picnic, walk to the ice cream store, then paddle back (2 hours). Birds and ducks usually seen. $22-25 per person.
