| 12:00 pm | Campout And Hike On The Mason Tract Using backpacks and canoes with canoe carts, we'll walk our gear a half of a mile into a quiet, remote, no motors lake to our rustic campsites under towering white pines. Loon, osprey and bald eagle sightings are common. In addition to canoeing plus hiking (or biking) on the trails around the lake, we will travel to the South Branch of the beautiful Au Sable River to hike on the Mason Tract trails. All campers will bring their own food with a group potluck on Saturday evening. There is no fee for this weekend outing except for the National Forest parking fee. Members and nonmembers are welcome. | 10:00 am | Plant Cedar Trees On The Au Sable River Sierra Club volunteers will assemble with the Anglers of the Au Sable and Cedars of the Au Sable volunteers at the Gates Au Sable Lodge on Stephan Bridge Road, east of Grayling, to organize our teams, trees and equipment before proceeding to our designated stretches on the river. Bring work gloves, shovels, insect repellent, sun screen, canteens, etc. and plan to spend a few hours along the river planting trees.
