George Worthmore, a star in the NYC music scene for over twenty years, began as a guitarist with Kinky Friedman. He's played backup guitar for Bo Diddley, Ben E. King, Lou Christy, and The Platters. He's also performed as a second guitarist with Hot Tuna. His current show is a tour de force of solo acoustic guitar, from Ragtime to Blues, with some Bach thrown in for good measure. The music is interlaced with humorous comments and amusing stories about the songs and his experiences.

Seventh Son is the oldest blues band in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They perform for the love of the music. Where "professional" musicians are compelled by the marketplace to perform the same set of saleable musical commodities night after night, Seventh Son revels in the freedom to play the music that moves them, which means even their regular listeners never hear the same set twice. The 7-piece band's instrumentation includes: harmonica, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and two saxophones.

Meridian Township Parks and the Lansing Oar and Paddle Club have teamed up to clear fallen trees and log jams out of the Red Cedar River from Meridian Road to Okemos Road on Saturday October 23. The low water level this fall has provided a great opportunity for reaching some of the more troublesome log jams. Volunteers should meet in the Harris Nature Center parking lot at 9 am. Tom Kastle is a singer, songwriter, tall ship captain, and teller of tales based in the Great Lakes who has traveled the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Pacific. He toured as half of Tom & Chris Kastle for two decades, producing a dozen recordings and a soundtrack for PBS (WTTW-TV Chicago). He has one foot in as a singer/songwriter and the other firmly planted in the traditional maritime folk music world. When ashore, he lives in a 19th century log cottage on the shore of Lake Mendota.
